As an essential part of research oriented organization, the Repository has
a library consisting of about 5000 books (1828 to onward). Most of these books are
Government publications reports, gazettes and gazetteers, which provide the authentic
data to the research scholars for their research.
The office houses the books and reports on almost every subject, acquired from the
offices of Deputy Commissioner Ambala and the Commissioner Ambala Division. All
these are mostly government publications viz. Census Reports commencing from 1881;
Assessment and Settlement Reports since 1860 to 1920-21;
Reports on the Administration of
Punjab and its Dependencies since 1884-85 to 1920-21; Administration of Court of
Wards; Reports of the Famine Commissions,
Education Commission, Hemp & Drug Commission, Water Logging Reports, Circulars
of the High Court of Judicature; these include various decisions of the courts since
1872 to 1912-13; Meteorological Reports. There are also books on various manufactures
and industries of Punjab and
India ; Imperial Gazetteers, District Gazetteers since 1883-84; books on Acts and
Regulations, Statutes since 1804; Manuals, etc. There are books on health, animal
husbandry, forest, irrigation and agriculture etc.
